This is your unique opportunity to dress like a real Albanian and support the making of traditional costumes. Edlira and her team make the costumes by hand, which makes them really special and one of a kind in Albania. You will see diverse traditional costumes from different regions of Albania and get explanations on how they are made and the stories behind them. Then you can choose which costume you would like to wear, dress up and take pictures and videos, either in the Tirana castle or another place of your liking, to keep this special moment as a memory.
You can also combine this experience with the “Embroidery/Tapestry experience” experience that we offer. It’s at the same location and a good combination as you will be making something yourself, learn about techniques and history and dress up in traditional costumes afterwards.
Through this activity we try to create a more sustainable Tirana, through sustainable tourism development and inclusion of local stakeholders (GSTC A10). Because the activity will be done in small groups, a maximum of 5 participants, or individually, there will be a better communication and assistance between every participant and the artisan. You will hear interesting facts and stories about the costumes and Albanian culture, while through every experience booked, cultural heritage is preserved and protected (through keeping the making of traditional costumes alive) (GSTC C2 & A9). We only employ local artisans (from Tirana and the surroundings) (GSTC B2). The images we show are real pictures of the costumes used for the experience (GSTC A6).
