This bike tour will introduce you to Farka lake and Farka region, just outside of the city of Tirana. We will start the tour in the center of Tirana and make our way to the lake, where we can have some breaks and enjoy sitting by the water and enjoying the nature around us. Afterwards we will go to the Shumokut canyon, where will explore this unique natural place by foot. Not only will you discover beautiful nature on this trip, no, you will also come in contact with some of the oldest Albanian traditions, the pottery. We will visit a local pottery workshop, where the handymen will show you how they make pottery, talk about this tradition and if you want you can also get your hand dirty yourself or buy a nice handmade souvenir. On our way home we will stop at the lake again, where you can also take a refreshing swim in the lake, before we head back to the city.
As we will be biking and walking the whole tour, there will be no pollution (CO2 or noise pollution) and we will only have a small ecological footprint (GSTC D2.2). Because we set a maximum group size of 12 participants, we have a smaller impact per group, a better communication between every visitor and the guide, plus the guide can better ensure your safety while cycling. Our guides have a broad knowledge of the areas visited and the history, know how to behave appropriately and are trained to pass on the information to our guests (GSTC A9). That’s also because we hire only local guides, which mostly grew up in Tirana or the surroundings (GSTC B2). Furthermore, visitors get the opportunity to see Albanian culture, traditions and natural beauties, while through every tour booked, cultural heritage is preserved and protected (through keeping the pottery making alive) (GSTC C2 & C3). We make sure you will see the sights that are mentioned in the description (if nothing unexpected, like storm, injury etc. occurs or the group decides against this). The images we show are real pictures of Farka region and the sights you will visit (GSTC A6).
You will do something for your health as well, but please make sure you are capable of cycling for 3-4 hours, especially in the summer heat.
